Grabbing from ACM is not working

Hi,

I just recently started using Zotero and I ran into problems while trying to grab information from ACM. I get a "Could not save" error message an no entries are saved. It works perfectly on IEEEXplore but not ACM. I have not tried any other sites so far.

- I use Ubuntu 8.10, Firefox 3.03 and Zotero 1.07.
- I have tried all the steps in the troubleshooting guide (the one which is liked to when I get the "Could not save" error message).
- Zotero recognizes ACM (when I put the mouse over the icon in the address line it says "Save to Zotero ... (ACM)")
- I have access to ACM through a University license and I can see the name of the university in the top left corner in the ACM logo. I assume that this should have no effect on the parsing of the source of the document as the content of the is the same. It is just the logo which is affected.

I would be more than happy to provide any other information which could contribute to resolving this problem.

Thanks for a great piece of software :-)
  • Update: Grabbing one single entry is working however grabbing all entries in a list (e.g. search result) does not work. Doing it one entry at the time is rather dull...
  • How many items are you trying to save at once? Does it work if you do, say, two or three?

It's entirely possible (and reasonable) that ACM would block you if you try to save too many at once.

    Hi Dan,

The number of items does not really matter. It just does not work when saving entries from the search result view. I have tried selection one, two, three ... 25 in the Zotero window "Select items".

I have also tried from different machines with totally different IP-addresses. Moreover, I am able to open as many windows/panes as I want in rapid succession and I guess each browser window/pane opens up each a connection. So I guess a block because of too many connections is not the problem.

However if I open each individual entry I am able to save all of them, one at the time. This is however rather boring :)

Edit: I have also tried it on both Linux and Windows (even though I do not think this should matter).
  • Oh, OK, I thought you were implying that a single entry from the list worked. But, yes, the search results page just isn't working. Reproduced here.
