Cannot Install Firefox Extension (either full or for stand-alone)

I'm in the process of reverting back to Firefox from Chrome on my Windows machine (running Windows 7) and cannot seem to install the Firefox extension in Firefox 30. If I try searching for it in the Add-Ons area, it does not show up. If I try installing it from the Zotero homepage, it downloads then crashes, stating, "Add-on could not be downloaded because of a connection failure at zotero.org."

Is this a known problem? Has the extension been taken down for some reason?
  • Zotero hasn't been available on the Mozilla add-ons site for years.
Add-on could not be downloaded because of a connection failure at zotero.org.
If you go to https://www.zotero.org/ and click on the padlock to the left of the address bar, does it say "Verified by: GeoTrust, Inc." in the popup?
  • Thanks, Dan! After your reply, I realized the problem might be my security software's default browser protection. Sure enough, once I turned it off, the Firefox extension installed correctly.

    Thanks again!
