Problems with COinS and DSpace

When I try to save items from this page (a DSpace catalog): http://dspace.unav.es/dspace/handle/10171/2196 , I can't do it.

The same happens with some resources in the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek (COinS), for example:
https://opacplus.bsb-muenchen.de/InfoGuideClient/search.do?methodToCall=volumeSearch&dbIdentifier=-1&forward=success&catKey=9948927&periodical=N

In this last case, there is a box that says: "Could not save the item
An error ocurred while saving this item. Check Known Translator Issues for more information".

This is with Firefox 3.0.3 and with Zotero 1.5-sync2.2. I work with Windows XP Service Pack 2.

Thanks for your help.

  • These are unrelated problems, as DSpace uses a different translator & does not embed COinS.

Your second link (that you claim uses COinS) requires your own session data. Please give a permalink if possible or instructions on finding a resource that fails.
  • The permalink doesn't work (I don't know why) but you can see the problem if you go to https://opacplus.bsb-muenchen.de/InfoGuideClient/start.do?Login=opacext&BaseURL=https%3a%2f%2fopacplus.bsb-muenchen.de%2fInfoGuideClient%2fstart.do%3fLogin%3dopacext and search for "Translatio S. Dionysii [u.a.] - BSB Clm 17142".

    Again, thanks for your help.

The COinS on that page has a ton of empty entities. Ideally, the site would not include these.

Zotero fails specifically because 'rft.au' exists, but is empty. Removing that element from the span makes the page work. I guess that Zotero should be able to handle bad data, but it would also be useful to have them fix that site. Do you know if that OPAC is used by other institutions? Can you report the issue to BSB?
  • I have reported the issue to BSB, but they say that they have tested with their Zotero and could get the information without problems.
I really don't know if that OPAC is used by other institutions.

Anyway, thank your for your help.
  • Thanks for contacting them. Please either send them to this thread or report the particular record that failed & why. We have stated how their records can be cleaned up & they'd then work with other COinS tools as well.
  • The same happens with this page: http://archivi.beniculturali.it/Biblioteca/indexSteffens.html (but is neither COins nor DSpace).

I don't exactly know how I should report the record. I'm really not accustomed to doing this type of things. But with your help I can try.

    Thanks again.
