Standalone: Retrieve metadata stopped working

I'm using Standalone version 4.0.17. It has worked perfectly but now both "retrieve metadata for pdf" and ISBN/DOI-search doesn't work anymore.

Some further info from error console:

Error: No items returned from any translator

Error: No matching references found.

I have tested with items that have been automatically recognized earlier.

There is a long list of warnings as well, like:

    Can you provide a Debug ID for a Retrieve Metadata attempt?

    Does "Check for Updates" work? Are you connected via a proxy server?

    I renamed zotero folder as "zotero old", then reinstalled Zotero and replaced in the new folder both storage-folder (everything under it) and zotero.sqlite with the previous old files. Now it works. I hope there is no risks with this approach (for example to corrupt data).

    If that works it's fine, but we generally prefer to debug things more explicitly, since that lets us know if there are problems we need to fix. In this case I'd guess that Reset Translators from the Advanced -> Files and Folders pane of the Zotero preferences would've accomplished the same thing.
