Conflict resolution failed--error

Error #: 1156485596
"Invalid sync state '4' in Zotero.Item.attachmentSyncState setter"
Specifically:
[JavaScript Error: "no element found" {file: "chrome://web2pdfextension/content/feat_support_new.xul" line: 1 column: 20 source: "<!-- Dummy File -->"}]

So zotero keeps failing to sync--telling me I have some 480 conflicted copies of files, when I go to resolve those files I get to file # 288 or so and the conflict resolution shuts down, none of my resolution preferences are saved, but it's fruitless to start over (I tried and the same thing happens). Help?
Thank you.
  • This will be fixed in Zotero 4.0.13. In the meantime, you should be able to install the latest 4.0 Branch dev XPI and sync with that. You can switch back to 4.0.12 afterward.
  • Ok, I installed it--but do you mean "sync with it"? What do I need to do in order to actually fix the conflict resolution? I tried syncing again after having installed it--nothing was different.

I'm assuming I need to sync doing something different? Can you give me more specifics? I'm new to all this and not exactly savvy with software.
    Thank you.
  • after installing you should just run through the conflict resolution and it should work - are you saying that you got stuck again?
  • And if it doesn't we'll need another Report ID.
  • Ok--new error--# 2079666050

[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80630003 (NS_ERROR_STORAGE_CONSTRAINT) [mozIStorageStatement.execute]" nsresult: "0x80630003 (NS_ERROR_STORAGE_CONSTRAINT)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/data/tag.js :: Zotero.Tag.prototype.save :: line 471" data: no] [ERROR: columns itemID, tagID are not unique

New problems I think? I did make it through the 400 resolution issues, but now this is also preventing it from syncing?

Yes, that's a new problem. Check your database integrity from the Advanced -> Files and Folders pane of the Zotero preferences.
  • (Dan: We had a similar conflict recently in MLZ, reported by user duncrum. Just in case, here's a patch that cleared it for us.)

@gnadina: This is just a side-note to Dan. Do check your database integrity, he'll need that information.
  • Ok, I clicked the 'integrity button:
    it says,
"No errors were found in the database"

    Any more advice?
  • Can you provide a Debug ID (not Report ID) for a sync and enough of conflict resolution to produces this error? (Alternatively, if you don't need your local data, you can do a Restore from Zotero Server from the Sync -> Reset pane of the Zotero preferences.)
  • Ok--I think it's 1383693009478.
    Thank you...

That's a Report ID (and not a valid one at that)...

We need a Debug ID — follow the link — and you should copy and paste the number, not retype it.

(I found where you got that number. It's part of a log message completely unrelated to Zotero that appeared in the error report. You can ignore the contents of the report. A Report ID or Debug ID is the number that's presented to you after you submit the report. Again, be sure to follow the Debug ID instructions precisely.)
  • But rather than go through the conflicts again, if you prefer you can also upload your database to the DB Repair Tool and post the Upload ID that it gives you. We can then take a look at your database and see if we can figure out what the problem is. I do see an unusual message in the error report you submitted suggesting that there's a problem with one of your tags.

If you do that, for now you can ignore the download link the repair tool provides. I'll let you know if it's worth swapping in the processed database.
  • Ah, sorry about that. I wasn't sure where to click to get the debug ID.
    It is:
    D645748146.
That should work. I will look at uploading all our files. I'm working on a joint project (I'm a research assistant for a professor) I'm worried the database might be too large to easily upload? I will try to though...
Thanks again (especially thanks for the prompt replies).
  • Conflicts have suspended automatic syncing.

Click the sync icon to resolve them.
Are you sure you triggered the same error in that output? I don't see it there, and it looks like that's just an auto-sync that stopped because there were conflicts to resolve.

I don't want to waste your time going going through conflicts repeatedly, though, so I'd see if you could get the database uploaded.
  • I just 'reset' everything, replaced everything local with what was online. Saved us a headache.
    Thanks for all your help.

Just in case other people stumble upon this thread, this is fixed in 4.0.15, available now.
