I'm writing a paper and want to cite a guidline several times within my text. If I do so a new footnote is added each time. My intention is that zotero / word always refers to the same footnote already quoted above.
footnotes are inserted by your word processor and are always sequential. You cannot have the same footnote number appear twice in the same document.
What you want is what we refer to as a numeric style - try e.g. "Vancouver" (there are hundreds of alternatives at zotero.org/styles), which will insert a number like (1) for the citation and then repeat it when it's cited again. The full list of references with corresponding number is then the bibliography.
