One source - multiple citations?!

Is it possible to cite the same source multiple times in a MS Word document, so that only one footnote is inserted?
  • Yes. This should just work. Have you tried it?
  • I'm actually not quite sure what DrNase means by "only one footnote is inserted".
could you maybe provide an example?
  • Thanks for your answers!
I'm writing a paper and want to cite a guidline several times within my text. If I do so a new footnote is added each time. My intention is that zotero / word always refers to the same footnote already quoted above.

I just want zotero to recognize that I cite the same article severale times. Hope you understand my example.
    Example for my intention:

Colorectal cancer is often diagnosed in the elderly (1).
    .......
There are different therapeutic options. (1)

    ----------------
    (1) S3 Guidline of colorectal cancer, ASCO 2011
  • My actuel problem with zotero is:

Colorectal cancer is often diagnosed in the elderly (1).
    .......
There are different therapeutic options. (2)

    ----------------
    (1) S3 Guidline of colorectal cancer, ASCO 2011
    (2) S3 Guidline of colorectal cancer, ASCO 2011
  • footnotes are inserted by your word processor and are always sequential. You cannot have the same footnote number appear twice in the same document.

What you want is what we refer to as a numeric style - try e.g. "Vancouver" (there are hundreds of alternatives at zotero.org/styles), which will insert a number like (1) for the citation and then repeat it when it's cited again. The full list of references with corresponding number is then the bibliography.
