Conflicts have suspended automatic syncing

Hi,
I started to sync again for my 3,000 bib notes after a pause of two years. So, to no surprise I had to resolve 340 conflicts.

But once finished I get a new sync error message
Conflicts have suspended automatic syncing.
After having syncing restarted I learn that I have to solve 259 conflicts.

How can this happen ? Is that ok ???

    Start here: http://www.zotero.org/support/kb/repeated_conflicts

And disable auto-syncing in the Sync pane of the Zotero preferences until this is resolved.

after having disabled auto syncing and having restarted the pc and zotero.
The screenshot shows identical items to sync betwen the local and the distant server (= the majority of errors)

This screen shot shows two panes but no possibility to choose which one to retain in the syncing process:

Can I skirt the error in making the local version the one I always want to retain ?

    TIA
  • If you provide a Debug ID for a sync attempt through the first conflict (after which you can cancel) I can look into why those conflicts are happening — if the items are really identical they shouldn't occur.

But for the second screenshot, you just need to click the version you want (which will turn its heading red and update the third column) and click Next.

I tried to solve some 260 errors another time , and the second error appeared again.

Hopefully you find a way to solve this error.
What about simply delete the server-side zotero file because the good one is the one on my pc ?

You can do that easily. "Restore to Zotero Server" from the Sync -> Reset pane of the Zotero preferences. (That can cause some problems if you're in groups, but if you just have a personal library it should be fine.)
  • "Restore to Zotero Server" did the trick. Thanks !

But now the overall size of my biblio is too large to get synced. Can I see somewhere the size of the entries, in particular the pdf annexes ?

Are you referring to your Zotero File Storage quota here? Because if Restore to Zotero Server went through, your data is all synced, just not the attached files. You can't view the size of PDFs from within Zotero, but there are third-party tools that could show you the largest files in your Zotero data directory. But if you have a large library you're almost certainly going to go over the free 300MB regardless.
  • Thanks, this clarifies the way to do backups and syncing.

For the time being I backup with SyncBack to Dropbox. This solves the size limit.
