Adding single name author after double name author causes error

Problem ID: 770557051

What I did:

1. Create a book entry.
2. Change the author to an editor.
3. Make sure you input a first and last name for the editor.
4. Add another contributor.
5. Change this one to an author.
6. Change to a single name entry for this author.
7. Input a single word for the name (like "Averroes")
8. Zotero reports an error.
  • NB: I just tried to do things in the reverse order (added a single name author first, then a double name editor) and it worked fine.
  • I cannot reproduce this on Windows 7 with Zotero 4.0.8 (Standalone or Firefox).

What OS are you running? Is this Zotero Standalone or Zotero for Firefox? Is it up to date (4.0.8)? Try disabling all other addons.

    It's Standalone 4.0.8 on Windows 7.
JavaScript Error: "First name ('(first)') must be empty in single-field mode in Zotero.Creator.save()" {file: "chrome://zotero/content/bindings/itembox.xml" line: 2101}]
I can't reproduce this either. Can you verify those steps to reproduce (and remove anything that might be unnecessary, such as the author/editor change)?

Also, I don't know how it would produce this error, but for good measure, check your database integrity in the Advanced -> Files and Folders pane of the Zotero preferences.

Also, since we can't reproduce this, can you be more specific about how you're doing these steps? For example, how are you assigning the two-field name? By clicking? Tabbing? Autocomplete?
