Package available in Debian

Hi,

I have completed the packaging of zotero standalone for Debian. The package is actually in the NEW queue and should be available in experimental repository in the following days. As soon as wheezy is released and the freeze ends I will upload it on unstable.

Cheers

I see the sid package version=4.0.6-6 @ http://packages.debian.org/sid/zotero-standalone but would like to know, how often is this being updated? I note the release page currently (13 Jun 2013) has 4.0.8
  • Hi,

Since 4.0.6 was the first release entering unstable I took care of solving all the debian related problems, that is why is the 6th release.
I will try to keep the package updated as often as I can but it depends on how busy I am.
I will try to update to 4.0.8 the next week.

    Cheers

  • Thanks a lot for this work! Do you have any plans to publish an Ubuntu package?
  • Hi,

    You are welcome,
I found this link for the Ubuntu package https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zotero-standalone-build which is intended for saucy.
The package will need to be modified concerning dependencies because the xulrunner package does not exist in ubuntu.
I might take a look on how to make it work in bot Debian and Ubuntu but I do not know when I will.

    Cheers

Thanks! one more request: could zotero-standalone be pushed to debian testing?

I mostly run testing (via LMDE), so installing the unstable package required the sequence=[twiddle my sources.list, install the package, untwiddle my sources.list]. Which is not a huge pain, but would be nice to avoid if possible. I noted while installing, that zotero-standalone didn't appear to have any dependencies other than what I had previously installed from testing, so I'm wondering if this package really needs to be in sid (which some folks might also find more off-putting than testing).
  • Please note I added pointers to packages mentioned here, and a link to the ubuntu discussion above, to the wiki @ http://www.zotero.org/support/kb/linux_packaging (and please correct as needed).

    Hi,

In Debian you cannot upload to testing. The migration is automatic if the conditions are met. Se this page to know why the package is held for migration: http://packages.qa.debian.org/z/zotero-standalone-build.html

Thank for adding all this to the wiki. I'll add some other stuff since I am packaging LyZ (the LyX zotero connector).

    Cheers
