Older version of Zotero client for Mac OS X 10.4.11

I am sorry if I have overlooked any other posts on this (I couldn't find any) but are there any links to older versions of Zotero?
I would like to get it installed on an old PowerBook of mine that is still running Mac OS X 10.4.11...

Cheers!

Tom
  • You'd have to go quite far back, wouldn't be able to use Zotero Standalone, and would see significantly worse performance (e.g. no more translator updates, meaning that translators won't work on many sites, including google scholar, JSTOR etc.). You'd also have to run Firefox 3.6 which no longer receives security updates, thus exposing yourself and others to vulnerabilities. Even citation styles may not work correctly, since CSL has been updated to a new version since.
Because of that, I'd first try to run current Zotero on tenfour fox
    http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
which should work (though we don't test it).

If you really do want an old version, they all follow the same URL pattern. I believe the last version to work with OSX 10.4 and Firefox 3.6.xx is 2.1.10
    http://download.zotero.org/extension/zotero-2.1.10.xpi
Obviously it's no longer supported, so any problems you're on your own.
  • OK, thanks for the quick reply!

A pity I can't use the standalone version. Quite understandable though, I should add.

I guess I might still just use the web interface on your site though just to have access to what is in my Zotero library.

Cheers, and keep up the good work ;-) !

  • there's a very high chance the bookmarklet would work in any browser you use:
    http://www.zotero.org/downloadbookmarklet
and would save things directly to the browser.
  • I'm looking for help getting Zotero to work on my old PowerBook G4 12" running OS 10.5.8 and TenFourFox 24.5.0. After reading a number of posts, I've installed Zotero 2.1.10 and I'm getting the yellow alert triangle on top of the "zotero" link down in the lower right corner of the screen. When I click on it I'm given the message "there was an error starting zotero".
I know enough to get myself into trouble. If anyone can give some assistance as to what I can do I would appreciate it.
  • if you're running TenFourFox, you should be able to run a current version of Zotero - certainly Zotero 2.1 won't work with Firefox 24.
  • I think I was overthinking it. I installed the current version by checking for updates. Looks like it's working. I've synchronized it and it's transferring my research. Thanks for the help.
