Not Syncing

I had been running Zotero standalone from a laptop (Win7) which I no longer use (cracked monitor). I'm trying to sync my zotero items to the standalone I have installed on my new laptop (WinXP), but I'm not having much luck. I first tested the sync function on the new computer, and the test item I imported does show up in my mozilla display. However, when I input my user info to sync from the other computer, nothing is transferring. Am I missing something? I'm not receiving any error messages and it has been a reasonable amount of time (hours) since I last tried and refreshed.

    not sure what you mean. How did you "test" sync? With a different account?

    Are you sure your old account was synced?
    Can you see your items when you click on "My Library" at the top left of this page?

    I only have one account. I previously never synced my old account. I am only syncing now to take advantage of the browser interface and to move the info from my broken computer to my new one. I had previously read from the posted link but could not find a clear answer. Is it necessary for me to set up a second account and form a group? The "test" is simply that I put an item in the library through my new comp, but it is only that item that shows up in mozilla, nothing from the standalone application on my other computer shows up, although I linked the syncing option there to the same account. Thanks.

    No, don't create another account.

    I don't know what you mean by this—you'll need to be more specific.

    Also, forget for the moment that you're syncing multiple computers—just focus on what's on one computer vs. what's in your online library in zotero.org, because clients sync with zotero.org, not with each other.

    You need to be clear about what you mean by Mozilla. Do you mean that you have Firefox with Zotero plugin and you cannot see items in the Zotero plugin? Or are you talking about the Zotero online library at zotero.org the page for which you have opened in Mozilla Firefox?

    If you see the test item on Zotero.org, your new laptop appears to be configured correctly.

    in that case, make sure you are using the same username and password on both computer. Also make sure your Zotero is up to date on both computers

    For further troubleshooting go through the page Dan linked and report back with requested info.

    Generally, what Dan and Aurimas say, but if you never synced before, then your info won't be online and syncing won't do anything. In that case, see option A here:
