Springer Link Import Error

I am having a problem with the Springer Link. I can download one reference from the Springer website but not any others. The link icon remains on my URL bar. The only fix I have found is close Firefox and restart the process. I can then download one reference but not another.

An example URL is http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10040-009-0439-x

I am using Windows 7, Firefox 18 and Zotero 3.0.13

Error report # is 1159498705

Thanks
  • Followup comment. After using a different translator (Wiley), I learned that the reference is getting saved to My Library but not the specific collection I want to save the reference to. This only occurs after using the Springer translator. The fix is to close and restart Firefox.

    Thanks

Dan, is there anything in that error report?

REJ, I cannot reproduce this. Could you provide the exact steps to follow? Also, just to be clear, you have Zotero for Firefox and you are using Firefox to access the pages.

I did notice that for that particular article that you link to, we are capturing all of the abstracts, which I fixed (locally for now). But even without the fix, I cannot reproduce this.

Sounds like it is going through zotero.org server after the Springer link import.

Per the latter, try disabling your other extensions.
  • Thanks. I don't know what happened the other day. It was frustrating to link to a reference and then have to close the program and repeat. And then I found that it seem to be saving the reference to My Library rather than the specific Collection I intend to use. Seems to work today with no problems. I suspect it was combination of things specific to that day that I will not be able to reproduce. Many thanks for the quick response.

Yes I am still using Firefox with Zotero. Is that old school?

Only if you mean old-school in the most positive sense. In most scenarios that's the least error-prone set-up. It's just important to know for troubleshooting.
