IngentaConnect does not work

Even though the icon in the address bar appears, it does not work. After you click on it, the regular Zotero box also appears but nothing happens.

Here is the URL I'm using:
http://www.ingentaconnect.com.ezproxy.webfeat.lib.ed.ac.uk/content/berghahn/romance/2009/00000009/00000002/art00002
  • I'm not sure if this was overlooked, but it still doesn't work.
  • Please go to http://github.com/ajlyon/zotero-bits/raw/master/IngentaConnect.js and save the file to the translators directory of your Zotero data directory (http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data).

It should start working again. If this works for you, please post here so that I can submit this change to be pushed to all users.
  • It works, though it does not correctly recognize the Item Type and Author. It also does not automatically download the pdf.
  • I've updated the version on Github (link above) to hopefully get item types and authors right. The translator never had proper PDF saving, but I'll see if I can quickly add that as well.
  • Now with PDF saving.

  • It works now, thanks!
  • Now committed to the repository.

The automatic PDF saving for IngentaConnect no longer seems to work. Is this a known issue?
  • sample URL? And is that using the FF plugin or Standalone?

For example: http://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/brill/arab/2012/00000059/00000006/art00003 . I am using the FF plugin, though trying the standalone I had the same issue.
  • Fixed.
Your copy of Zotero will auto-update within 24hs or you can update translators immediately by clicking "Update Now" in the General tab of the Zotero preferences.
Any problems, please let us know.
  • Excellent. It now works perfectly. Many thanks.
  • Has the automatic PDF saving stopped working on IngentaConnect again? It does not seem to be working for me on free content. I am using Chrome + standalone.

It seems to correctly grab the metadata and establish a Journal Article item in Zotero, but with no full text.

    Examples of free content:

    http://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/tpp/ep/2014/00000010/00000001/art00001
    http://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/tpp/ep/2014/00000010/00000001/art00002

    Thanks in advance
  • confirmed - not a trivial fix, they removed the URL to the PDF from the page, we'll have to see if we can still get it.
  • Should be fixed now. Update translators via Preferences -> General -> Update Now in Standalone. Restart Chrome.
  • Thanks for the quick response and for fixing this translator. This is now working for me - many thanks.

In case anyone else hits this bug and ends up on this page, I thought I should note that for some reason it did not work immediately. After running the translator update and restarting Chrome it was still not working. I did some more restarts (restarted Zotero and Chrome again, and I may have even rebooted my machine, I forget) and one of those seems to have forced the update to take hold.

    Thanks again for fixing this.
