Converting from SBL footnote to Author-Date in-text Citations

Hi there. I've seen a few other posts related to this question, but never with a resolution. I have a document with SBL footnote citations (entered through Zotero's Word Integration), and I need to get those into Author-Date in-text citations. I am able to automatically convert to author-date, but the citations remain in the footnotes. I even went to manually move the citations into the body of the text, but then it makes the footnote numbering wonky (and I still have some context footnotes that need to remain in footnote form).

I would appreciate any help. Thanks!

    does this work for you in a fresh document - i.e. insert an SBL footnote, then convert to Chicago (author-date) (or some other author-date style)?

    And just to be clear - you used Zotero to create the _footnote_ not just to insert the citation, correct?

    Hey Adam... it worked in the fresh document...

    I used Zotero to create the footnotes; although there may be some content footnotes that I did not use Zotero for (because they do not include citations). Would that be the problem?

    no, that shouldn't be a problem. I've only seen this once otherwise - in the other thread were I guess you saw this, too.
    I don't have a great theory, I'd suggest trying to run through this:
    http://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#debugging_broken_documents
    and see if something helps.

    Beyond that we'd need Simon's help.

    I went through the suggestions in support. When I copied the document to a new doc and tried to run the citation style change, I got this error:

    Zotero experienced an error updating your document.

    [Exception... "'The operation couldn't be completed.     What steps do I need to go through to get Simon's help? Thanks so much.

    i.e. try to see if this was caused by a single broken citation?
