edited references will not break across lines

I edited a reference as follows (King & Emmons, 1990) became (AEQ; King & Emmons, 1990). Once I edit it, the reference will not break across lines. Microsoft word treats it as one long word rather than multiple words with spaces in between. Is there any way to change this?
  • Edited by adding something. I added an abbreviation within the parentheses (as shown above).
  • sorry, I'm referring to the precise mechanism by which you added this: Did you put it in the prefix field in the word plugin? Did you edit it directly in Word? Did you use the Show Editor function of the classic word plugin?
  • Oh, gotcha. Ok, I used the show editor function in the classic word plugin.
  • Problems with the Show Editor function are unlikely to be fixed - the classic plugin is no longer maintained much.

In general that's not supposed to be necessary any more - editing right in Word should be fine and maintain the changes during updates, style changes etc.- but it seems like there may have been a regression.

How about if you enter this as a prefix, though, which is a better idea anyway?
  • The show editor issue is fixed in the next version of Zotero.
