Abbreviating all footnotes in Chicago Manual

I'm writing a grant proposal for art history using Chicago Manual (full note; no ibid). Because of word count restrictions, I would like to shorten all footnotes (first citations and all subsequent) to: "author (first and last), shortened title (date), page#." The proposal will have a separate, full bibliography for readers to reference full title, publisher and place of publication, etc.

I can't figure out exactly how to change the existing style? Does anyone have advice?

    that sounds pretty much like the Chicago Manual (note) style. You can change the style for an existing document under Document Preferences in the Word/LibreOffice plugin:

    You're right, it's pretty close, but Chicago Manual (note) doesn't include the publication year or full author name. Any suggestions for how to tweak it?

    if you've never worked with XML, frankly, tweaking Chicago style will be a significant time commitment.
