[MLZ] Insert citation for MS Word malfunctioning

Hello,
Here is the issue that I'm having:
When I attempt to insert a citation in an MS Word document, I can do so successfully the first time. After that, however, whenever I try to insert a citation in the same Word document, it seems to only go half-way there. That is, it will insert the following into the word document: "{citation}" but my OS will then bring up Firefox. That is all that happens. When I click back to MS Word, the program will still work (i.e. it hasn't frozen) but instead of the actual citation it will only display "{citation}".

I tried figuring out how to fix this by reading through other forum posts and tried various things (reinstalling the Word add-on, quitting both Firefox and Word, a sudo command through the Terminal) but haven't been able to figure it out.

My report ID is: 857704799.

I am using Mac OS X version 10.7.4; MS Word for Mac 2011 v14.2.2; and Firefox 13.0.1.

Thank you for any help you can offer!

You're running a very old version of MLZ. Either install the latest official version of Zotero from zotero.org, or install the latest MLZ from http://citationstylist.org/tools/
  • Thank you, Simon. I was wondering whether MLZ was the issue! I tried to figure out how to uninstall MLZ but couldn't do so. I had installed MLZ to try to do legal citations (e.g. of state regulations) but decided to just do those manually instead (I couldn't really figure out how MLZ works).

Could you please tell me how to uninstall MLZ?

Also, I just want to confirm, I'm running Zotero v3.0. That is the up-to-date version, correct?

    Thanks for your help!
  • you uninstall MLZ from the tools-->add-ons menu in Firefox.
You can download the most recent version of Zotero from www.zotero.org
currently the most recent version is 3.0.8
  • Reinstalling Zotero did the trick. Thank you both!
