Harvard Bibliographies

Hi,

I'm using zotero as a plugin for Google chrome and am having a few troubles with the auto generated bibliography at the end of my text. Despite the authors being the same the order of the references doesn't go in order of year and sometimes has mixed up single authors and multiple authors, i.e. has three of Smith's work then, two with Smith and Jones and then a couple of Smith again.

I'm struggling to find out what I'm doing wrong, any help would be much appreciated

Nick
  • some Harvard styles sort by title not by year. If you want one that sorts by year, try e.g. American Political Science Association or American Psychological Association.
  • Thanks, at least I understand the order now, still having trouble getting the order right though. Is there a way to organise this manually?
  • not manually, no. But if you use APA, for example, how is the sorting not right?
  • Not while relying on Zotero for citation formatting, no. Can you give a specific example of an incorrect sort, with a parallel example of the correct sort order?
  • Thanks for the replies.

I managed to find the right ordering system using American Psychological Association, however, its not in the same format as the Harvard style that I need.

    e.g.
Schadla-Hall, T., 2006. Finland and Tallinn: report and proceedings of the 151st Summer Meeting of the Royal Archaeological Institute in 2005. London: Royal Archaeological Institute.

Is there one which uses Harvard bibilo system but uses date order rather than title order?

    Thanks
  • Harvard Limerick, e.g. - but I take it that's not what you want either? Harvard is a label for any style that uses author-date in in text citations, so it's not terribly useful. What do you need the style for?
  • Its a specific referencing style used for Institute of Archaeology UCL,

So what I need is a Harvard referencing system (Author Date) in the text

A bibliography that uses the style above but lists in year order from earliest to latest for multiple authors?
  • Harvard European Archaeology maybe?
  • Do i have to download that style? I've only got a few options in Standalone
  • http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/22789/can-not-importinstall-citation-style-from-csl-repository/#Item_5

    the repository is at zotero.org/styles
  • Thanks Adam,

All sorted now. The Euro Harvard one is perfect
