MInefield

Minefield is a prelease version of Firefox 3. Is it possible to make Zotero compatible with Minefield builds? Currently I get an error message saying Minefield is only compatible with Minefield 2.xxx.

This is controlled by the maxversion in the rdf which is in the (zipped) xpi file.

You might use the nightly tester tools--this lets you bump the maxversion inside extensions. This should allow you to test it with Firefox 3 without the Zotero devs doing anything.

Please do not do this. Either wait until Firefox 3 is officially release or use the 1.0 branch of the zotero extension so that you have Firefox 3 compatibility out of the box.
  • Zotero was compatible with Minefield for most of the development cycle (some of us used Minefield as our development platform), but some problems arose when we added autocomplete functionality, and we haven't had the time to look into it further.

Feel free to try it out with the Nightly Tester Tools and even send us patches for any problems you encounter.

  • Running an edited version of the existing Zotero XPI on Firefox 3 is strongly discouraged. Compatibility with Firefox 3 requires fundamental changes to Zotero's core code which are reflected only in our current dev branch, not in Zotero 1.0.3. Our next public release, Zotero 1.0.4, contains these changes and is compatible with Firefox 3, and it will ship in the very near future, well before Firefox 3 comes out of beta.
