  • Please upgrade to 3.0.3
  • OK will upgrade and restart
    back in a while
  • Nothing seems to work. Is it something really simple I'm not doing? For all sites now, the pdf file will not download, whereas before I made the proxy changes at least the following site was downloading a pdf
    http://www.tandfonline.com.helicon.vuw.ac.nz/doi/abs/10.1080/13534640500058434
I have tried right clicking on the pdf and saving the link as a zotero item. Also going to citations and clicking export. This last strategy directs me to the document on the web but not the pdf

    any suggestions?
  • hmm, too bad.
Just to be sure, the option "automatically attach PDFs..." is checked in the general tab of the preferences, correct?

You can disable the proxy by unchecking the "Enable Proxy Redirection" box - the settings will remain saved should you later want to enable them. That should get you back to the status quo ante.

More as a matter of curiosity - if you double-click on the http://%h.helicon.vuw.ac.nz/%p in the proxy settings window - have other addresses than sciencedirect been added to the list?

Beyond that I don't have a good idea right now - maybe Simon has another thought. The next step would be to look at debug output.

Also, if you still have Standalone installed, upgrade that to 3.0.3 and see if you're getting better results with that - JSTOR, T&F and the uwpress site should all give you pdf attachments now.
  • yes the "automatically attach PDFs..." is checked
yes if I double-click on the http://%h.helicon.vuw.ac.nz/%p in the proxy settings window - other addresses than sciencedirect been added to the list?

I will change the standalone and wait for further instructions
By the way the standalone is downloading pdfs from Taylor and Francis ie
    from http://www.tandfonline.com.helicon.vuw.ac.nz/doi/abs/10.1080/13534640500058434

    thanks

good. That's supposed to happen. I don't know why that doesn't help us to get pdfs - it really should - but at least the feature by itself is working correctly.

Simon, ajlyon - any other thoughts on troubleshooting steps here?
  • heres another clue
when I tried to close the proxy window I got the message 'You have already defined another proxy for the host linkinghub.elsevier.com'
I removed a site from the window, then I got the same message for another site that was there
    what does that mean?
  • When the only site left was http://%h.helicon.vuw.ac.nz/%p I got the message 'You must enter a full hostname for the site served by this proxy (e.g., jstor.org)'.
  • that's bizarre - would you mind taking a screenshot of your proxy settings window and uploading it to a free image-hosting site like imageshack.us so we can have a look. I'm interested in the window immediately after you go to the proxy tab.
  • That sounds like you did something weird. It would need to say "multi-site" in front of http://%h.helicon.vuw.ac.nz/%p if it doesn't you did something wrong - the multi-site part is important.
    Still curious about that screenshot.
