Zotero wont save JSTOR citation to my library!!!!!!

For some reason whenever I click the Zotero icon in the URL bar, it gives me a message saying "An error occurred while saving this item. Check Known Translator Issues for more information". I have the most recent version of Zotero and Firefox, but not Zotero version 3.0 since it's in the beta still. I followed all of its advice on the translator issues and troubleshooting pages and nothing worked. I can still save from other sites like Worldcat, but like I said not JSTOR. Help?
  • From the troubleshooting site:
"If none of these solutions solve your problem, please make a new thread in the Site Translators category (or use an existing thread if you've already created one) and provide the URL of a page that isn't working (even if none are), a Report ID from after attempting to save, and any other information you see as relevant."

You have only done one out of three/four things requested.
  • I am not tech savy in the slightest bit. I have no idea what translators are, where their "site category" is, or how to get a Report ID. I'm an utterly lost art history undergrad who is mildly panicked because I cannot save my source citations for my research.

I posted my issue here because I don't know what to do or where to do it.
  • You've posted this in the right category of the forum "site translators" so you're fine on that.
You have not provided a URL of a JSTOR source that isn't working for you. We need this and it needs to be the address as you see it in the URL bar. (yes, even if you log in through your university).

The troubleshooting instructions include a link to this:
    http://www.zotero.org/support/reporting_bugs
which explains step by step how to submit an error report (under 2.). If you don't understand those instructions, please ask specific questions.
  • Alright, I read them and I think I followed the instructions properly.

    The ID was 1639524673
Should I just copy and paste the address right into this comments box? It's enormous.
  • yes.

Dan - anything helpful in that report?
  • Update: Zotero is saving the citation information of a few articles on JSTOR (randomly chosen just to test them).
  • Alright.

  • Just a list a many errors "type error," "syntax error," "corrupt or truncated image," etc.

    Nothing that I could understand.
  • TypeError: line.replace is not a function
  • I'm sorry, but I have no idea what that means.
  • You're not supposed to.
  • Is there anything else that I need to do?
  • Nope. Someone will post here once they look into the issue.
  • Then I'll check back periodically, and I thank the forum people for their help.

OK, I think I can reproduce that.
This should work correctly if you just delete everything from the first question mark and reload the page. I.e. you reduce the URL to
    http://0-www.jstor.org.helin.uri.edu/stable/10.1086/245591

we'll have a look, but that should do in the meantime.

edit: [technical note] someone else needs to take this - something is going wrong between l. 45 and 51 of the translator code - the search term gets included into the jid and that messes everything up. It fails silently for me (in the 3.0b), but fail it does.
  • This is now fixed in the repository-- the updated translator will be out within 24 hours.
