Using google docs with zotero only in web

A student of mine can't download zotero standalone because of system update (using and old mac). So I suggested she can use zotero integration with firefox. She is able to add items to the library but google docs does not allow her to add citations. It asked for the desktop version to be open. When trying for help it says: "The Zotero Connector needs to connect to the Zotero desktop app in order to save data or insert citations into Google Docs." Is there a way to avoid this?
  • No, unfortunately, there isn't. It's exactly what that says: Google docs integration needs the Desktop Zotero app.
  • It is a shame. Thanks for the answer!
  • I hope Zotero changes this. University public computers (for students that don't have access to personal computers) are not able to download desktop version of Zotero due to administrative restrictions.
