Zotero is totally frozen

I recently deleted a trash folder with 10,000+ files (my fault for not clearing it sooner), and my Zotero desktop app has been stuck for over an hour now. It just says "loading items ...", and I cannot see any of my folders or saved articles. When I close and reopen the desktop app, this doesn't fix the issue. I am wondering if I just need to wait it out or if there is something I can do to get my Zotero to start working for me again.
