Citation of archival materials/adding custom fields

I would like to use Zotero to maintain references to the archival documents (primary sources) and to generate citations for them. Citation of archives usually uses attributes like archive, collection, inventory number, signature, archival box, folio, etc. I know Zotero was not designed for this. However, the related topic of support for custom attributes was discussed here a while ago, and the answer was that in the mid-term such extensions are planned for Zotero. CSL-M seems to support such extensions (or custom attributes). Is the support for custom attributes still on the roadmap?
  • For archival materials, use the Archive field for the name of the archive and the Loc. in Archive field for the box/folder number. If an item type doesn’t have those, you can add them to Extra like this:

    archive: Name of Archive
    archive_location: Box 123

For the archival collection or the physical location of the archive, add those to Extra like above:

    archive_collection: Name of Collection
    archive-place: New York, NY

Those will be picked up for citations. Proper Zotero fields for collection and archive place will be added to items in a future version.
