Zotero and Endnote compatible?

Is there any export format that contains folder (Collection and Subcollection) structure FROM Zotero out TO EndNote?
  • I don't think so, no. Zotero offers collections in Zotero RDF and via the API, but I don't believe Endnote imports either. Standard formats like Endnote XML or RIS don't have a way to specify collection information
  • Ok. Your response was excellent and, as usual, right on point. Thank you. I have a request. Could you point me toward a guide I can follow to change the default settings for the citation style I use - Indigo Book Law Review? At the moment, the output does not conform to the required style, especially for cases and statutes. Perhaps with a few customized tweaks to the style on my computer, it could work for me. Until then it is a showstopper, so I would hugely appreciate any help.
  • Honestly, Zotero is the best. Thank you for all your support!
  • Are you using Zotero or juris-m? The only Indigobook style I'm aware of is the one for Juris-m and that wouldn't work regularly in Zotero. We do have a basic bluebook style for Zotero itself (https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=id:bluebook-law-review )
but given Zotero's limitations, that only works so well for legal sources.
In either case, though, see https://www.zotero.org/support/dev/citation_styles/style_editing_step-by-step for editing styles.
  • I am using JM Indigo Book Law Review, installed from the Repository. But I hope the guide will clinch it for me. I will follow along and see if I can change the style successfully. Thanks again.
  • (JM is for Juris-m -- if you want to use Juris-m styles, you should use the Juris-m software)
  • I have a follow-up question - what export and import format should I use to keep the folder structure (groups) I created in Endnote to transfer FROM endnote TO My Library in Zotero?
  • Same answer unfortunately: Endnote doesn't export anything that includes group/collection information. You'd have to export and import those individually to preserve them. The recommended format is (Endnote) XML
    See https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/endnote_import for details
  • Thank you for your quick response. That is unfortunate, indeed.
