Introduce filters (or views) on a collection

I was very confused that a "subcollection" is not something like a "view" or a "filter", but instead it's just like a folder in windows. Here is what I mean:

I have a collection (e.g. "Philosophy") and a subcollection inside (e.g. "Hegel"). When I add an entry to the subcollection, I think it should automatically be listed in the more general collection as well. Because it's a hierarchy! Everything "Hegel" should automatically be in the "Philosophy" collection.

So, if I have a collection "A" with two subcollections "A1" and "A2", each of which has 5 entries, then "A" should directly list 10 entries.

It would be great if something like this could be implemented in zotero, maybe as a replacement or an addition to the current collections system.

(The current system is inconsistent, which is why I was so confused: A collection is already exactly a "view" on the library; it's not a folder: Everything that I add to a collection is in the library. So I think the subcollections should behave the same way.)

(I am using zotero 2.0b7.4.)
