PEP-WEB Translator issue

Hello, I am new to Zotero and loving it. I am having an issue where the Chrome extension does not seem to recognize Journal Articles from PEP-WEB - the button is grey and it is saved as a webpage.
The URL is https://pep-web.org/browse/document/ijp.080.0575a?page=P0575

Thanks so much
  • I'm afraid I don't really see how we'd support that site. I don't see any structured way to get at metadata/citation information.
  • Aah I see.. Oh well, I copied the BibTex citation from Google Scholar and imported from clipboard, worked perfectly!
    Thanks so much
  • Rather than copying directly from Google Scholar, you will almost always receive more accurate and complete metadata after clicking through to the article on the publisher's website and using the Zotero translator to import the metadata. It is well-worth the extra clicks and time. Often GS will return grossly inaccurate or incomplete metadata.
  • But adamsmith above replied there isn't a way for Zotero to build a translator to get the metadata from the PEP-WEB, so I don't see another way for me to get my citation info for those articles without using GS.
  • GS will provide a link to the item on a publisher's website. Follow that link and use the import to Zotero icon in your browser toolbar. If GS does not link to the publisher and (for example) only links to a site like PEP-WEB, then you will need to import from GS but know that you will need to edit the record that you have imported to make your record complete.

Using your example, "Countertransference Past And Present: A Review Of The Concept"; GS will give me linking options : 1) the item on PubMed with a link to the journal and the article DOI (10.1516/0020757991598783); 2) a link to the journal article on PsycNet; and 3) a book chapter with that title and by that author on the Taylor and Fransis website. You may go to the item and use the Zotero import button to get metadata from there. In each case, Zotero will provide _full_ metadata for either the article or the book chapter.
  • Thank you so much DWL-SDCA. I now understand what I was missing following your first comment and I was able to find a website that Zotero could import from.
Thank you so much for both of your answers, you have made my first time using Zotero very smooth!
