Getting Zotero on a Chromebook

I can't get Zotero to work on my new Chromebook. I've got the Zotero connector listed in my extensions, but Zotero itself doens't come up in my list of installed apps. Zotero does appear in the toolbar and in Google Docs, so it's there somewhere, but if I try to add a referecne I get the 'Is Zotero installed/try troubleshooter' message. I've tried mos tof the Trloubleshooter suggestions, but it the directs me to a page which won't open. (http://127.0.0.1:23119/connector/ping). Help, please?

    The Zotero Connector is just a browser extension. You need the desktop app.

    Hello. That hasn't quite worked for me. I have installed Linux and Terminal, but maybe I'm not entering the commands in Step 3 correctly as it is not recognising them. I couldn't copy and paste them into Terminal so I tried typing them manually, but I'm obviously not understanding the layout. I don't know how to type the upright slash that is between 'install.sh' and 'sudo' (see below), and I don't know if it's even meant to be typed or if it just indicates a pause. Likewise am I supposed to type the entire message, or does it represent three different commands?

    Here's what the instructions say:

    curl -sL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/retorquere/zotero-deb/master/install.sh | sudo bash
    sudo apt update
    sudo apt install zotero

    Right click --> paste should work in the terminal, as should the insert key, if you have it.

    These are three lines of code that can be used sequentially or as a block -- that's the same in the terminal. The | ("pipe") is absolutely necessary, yes. If you're able to switch to a US keyboard, it's above the Enter key all the way to the right.

    Thanks Adam, but still can't do it! I can select the three lines, in my usual way ( Control C, Control V) and can copy them into this message or a document, but not into Terminal. And I don't have an insert key. Also Terminal opens in two different ways form the toolbar at the bottom, one is a more-or-less balnk page witha username that it's given me, the other is a page that offers options of managing Linux or adding SSH. I've been assume I copy the code into the otherwise-blank page, right?

    Do you mind saying which exact Chromebook model you have and which keyboard?

    Not at all, thanks for asking! It's an ASUS Chromebook CX1400CN with a UK keyboard...
