How do I submit a translator for distribution?

I've been working on a new site translator and have it almost ready to submit for inclusion in the Zotero core.

My problem is that the documentation on submission seems to be obsolete in some places and is somewhat contradictory.

I'd like to do 2 things with this discussion:
  1. Find out the current procedure (if any) for submitting translators for inclusion in the Zotero core
  2. Foster discussion that leads to updated & consistent documentation
Here's what I've found so far in the documentation:
  • The Scaffold page talks about the developers mailing list and a forum thread that has more to do with updating Scaffold for Zotero 2.0 than it does with submitting translators for inclusion

  • This thread seems to indicate that we should upload a Scaffold-formatted text file with SQL to zotero-dev. I'm not sure how to do that exactly.

I thought I had seen some other posts describing other ways to do this, but can't dig them up now.

What is the way? Can we create some sort of submission process that's more streamlined (and better documented... I'll volunteer to help with that if need be). Also, do we still need to submit in SQL form or can we use the newer standard of just submitting .js files? (I've seen some talk about this too, but can't find it right now).

I'd appreciate any clarifications of things I misunderstood.
  • The Scaffold page and the post of mine it links to are correct. (The other thread you link to is from a year earlier.)
  • Since I also had this question, I appended a copy/modify of http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/scaffold#getting_your_translator_distributed to http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/translator_overview
