Can I set the left pane to be minimized by default

I pretty much always want the left pane minimized but it gets visible again every time i restart zotero. How can I change this?

me too. would be nice if it "remembered" the previous arrangement.

Will this be fixed in 2.1?
It would also be nice to be able to access the preferences gear when the left pane is minimized
