Citing a paper twice: adds a second citation instead of referencing already cited
I am using google docs extension trying cite a single paper in two different areas of my document. I add/edit bibliography, search the name, and choose the option under "cited" tab. Instead of linking to the paper already cited, it duplicates the citation so the same paper is cited twice and has two different numbers. The same duplication occurs when I try to copy and paste the number within the document. Any help is appreciated!

adamsmithedited July 25, 2022That's how footnotes work. You seem to want a numeric style. Try e.g. Vancouver or Nature. Note that you'll need to add a bibliography for references to show. Citations are just numbers
