Any way to make search query in quick search sticky?

I very often find myself searching my library for something in the quick search box, only to discover that the cursor focus is in a collection, rather than the whole library. But when I click on the Library to search its full contents, the search term previously entered disappears and I need to type in my query all over again. Thus, my question: Is there any way to make the query stick when changing collections or to the main library?

Agree, I would love this feature. I do the same thing all the time.
