The New York Times Magazine is a Sunday magazine supplement included with the Sunday edition of The New York Times.

What item type should I use when adding its articles to Zotero? "Magazine Article" or "Newspaper Article"?

It won’t make much difference. I suggest magazine article

I'd have said newspaper article because the magazine is published with a specific date (the Sunday it's in the paper) and not a week -- also, that's what the automated import does. But as bwiernik says, citation styles almost always treat the two formats the same, so it really does not matter much.
