Does the documentation reflect 2.0 beta improvements?

I hesitate to ask this, since the last (and only) time I posed a question, I got fussed at and reminded that my respondent was not paid for his good works. (He should try being a freelance writer.) But, after exclaiming that Zotero is the best thing since sliced bread and a lifesaver for me, and certifying that I actually *have* read the how-to stuff, I'd like to ask: Does the Zotero documentation reflect changes and improvements in 2.0? For instance, the documentation item "Automatically capture bibliographic information from the Web" states that an icon "will appear in Firefox's location bar" under certain circumstances. This doesn't happen for me, nor do several other capture items. Thank you.

A second question would be: I know that changing to the beta imposes a whole new file structure on one's data and that one cannot expect to be able to go back to Version 1. Is there absolutely no way around this? Thank you again.

The documentation mostly reflects 2.0, yes. There may be some gaps still (the documentation is partly community written - it's a wiki, essentially), but few.

As for the icon - that's certainly supposed to be there in 2.0 (and in 1.0)
    http://www.zotero.org/support/kb/no_address_bar_icon
    has some troubleshooting advice.

As for the second question: What you _can_ do is back up your 1.0 library
    http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data
and if you're not happy with 2.0 uninstall it, re-install 1.0 and revert back to the old library. But otherwise, no, there is no way.

P.S. sorry you felt bad about our last exchange (though I would think that as a proud Brooklyner you'd be harder to deter ;-)) my point wasn't that I mind spending time helping you (else I wouldn't be here) but that there is no point in being impatient with people who volunteer their time to help you.
  • Wait a minute: On the one hand I'm a "proud Brooklyner" who is overly sensitive, and on the other hand I shouldn't be impatient? One can't have both. --FP
