Notero: open Zotero URI links with Standalone

Can someone explain to me how I can register Zotero Standalone to open the URI automatically created by Notero in Notion (in Windows 10)? Currently the URI (http://zotero.org/users/xxxxx/items/xxxxx) opens in my browser. Do I have to manually change 'http' to something Windows can associate with the app? Thanks!

    That's not a URI that Zotero would (or should) open. URIs to open items in the Zotero app take the form zotero://select, i.e. have a separate protocol with which Zotero should automatically associate itself.
