unbroken hyphen changed into en dash in word

When you cite an article in zotero in word, there is an en dash between the two page numbers in the citation table of contents. In zotero's metadata, however, there is an unbroken hyphen between the two page numbers. The en dash is twice as long as the unbroken hyphen. I don't know if this is normal

Yes, that's on purpose (and can be defined in the citation style if needed). In English -- and most other languages -- en dashes are standard for numerical ranges like page ranges.
