Counting number of refs in bibliography in one paper

HI is there a way to see how many references I have in my bibliography of a paper when using word and cite while you write?
Endnote would do that and show the number of used refs in your current paper you are writing on in the endnote library. I ask as some journal have restrictions on how many references you can use in a paper. I mean only in the bibliography not the in text refs.
  • Change to a numeric style like Cell
  • Great if anyone has a serious answer I would be really thankful.
  • That was a serious answer, Cell was just a bad example (it's not a numeric style). If you pick a style like Nature, Vancouver, or IEEE, all items in the bibliography are numbered, so you have the total number. You can then switch back to whichever style you were using previously.
