Text highlight missing in the PDF file.

Hello! I'm using the embedded pdf reader to write notes and highlight texts. Everything seems OK in Zotero. However, when I open the pdf using other pdf readers such as Acrobat, the notes as well as highlights disappear. What may be the problem? Is the notes saved somewhere else?
