Incorrect duplication of in-text references with the same author

Hello all,

I am facing this small issue:

My setup: I am using the Word add-in to add in-text citations. Within Zotero, my team and I have a Group Library in which we manage all the literature for our project. Within that library, we have different collections and sub-collections to keep literature sorted by topic.

Now, to the issue: I have a couple of different sources by the European Commission, all of which are not dated. So the in-text citation for them in APA 7 should be (European Commission, n.d.-a), (European Commission, n.d.-b), ... and so on.

However, Zotero only seems to recognize the duplication of the author when I have sources which are saved in the same Collection (at least this is what I assume produces the error). Right now I have three instances of (European Commission, n.d.-b) in my document, all of which refer to different websites.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? Does anyone know of a workaround besides correcting everything manually?

Thank you!
D
  • Collections are irrelevant for word processor integration. It's just a question of whether you have multiple items cited in the same document.

Are you sure you're actually selecting different items in the citation dialog?

Can you make a copy of the document, cut it down to the smallest possible section that produces the problem, and either provide a link to it or email it to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread?
  • Do send the document for troubleshooting, but we've seen a couple of cases where disambiguation simply didn't update properly. Switching to (any) different style and back typically fixes those.
