Zotero Connector & Follett Destiny

Hello! I am the new librarian at a college prep school and am demonstrating Zotero to some upper level and AP classes. Our library, like many other school libraries, uses Follett Destiny as our LMS. I don't love Follett Destiny but am stuck using it.

Unfortunately, the Zotero Connector does not work with our catalog as seamlessly as it does with other LMS's. Everything is a 'webpage' according to the Connector and all it saves is the URL, not even the permalink.

What would be the first steps to get started on this? Are there other school librarians out there who have advice? Would the people at Follett Destiny have to be involved?

Thank you!
  • Do I understand correctly that Destiny requires login to access? Or could you link to, say, an item or search results page?
  • @adamsmith Hi! Some features require login, such as ebooks, but otherwise no, the general catalog results should be accessible to anyone. Yes, you can link to individual items and also search results. I thought search results always redirected to the homepage but my little testing just now seems to preserve the link.
  • I looked at the catalog you DMd -- I'm afraid that doesn't look great for adding Zotero support: I wasn't able to see any sign of structure metadata. There's no export to RIS or the like, not is there a MARC view for librarians, nor some hidden metadata, e.g. in JSON format, anywhere on the page.

With these, we could just do this from the Zotero end. Without those options, this would be much easier with some help from Follett, yes. The fact that they do seem to have an option to export to EasyBib (disabled in your catalog) and produce citations suggest that this should be possible. Worth a try at least
