How to: copy my library/collection to another computer with no internet access

1: I want to transfer my library/collection to another computer with no internet access.

2: I have already tried, "Export library" as a RDF file. And "Import"ed the file on the computer with no internet access. This works fine and the files appear in the Zotero library.

My trouble is: When I click on the files I just imported, it doesn't display the webpages/.pdfs I have saved in the library. (E.g. I'll create a Snapshot or Create new item from Google.com, and when I've imported the RDF file of the exported files, I click on the file on my computer with no internet access, and it says "Address Not Found" - the message you get when you're trying to access a webpage without internet).

How do I get Zotero to save the files so that I can view them offline later on another computer?
  • That's strange - it should work with RDF.

But that's not the best way of doing that anyway:
    http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data
tells you a little about Zotero data -
you can use the same strategy that you'd use to restore data from a backup to move it to a different computer.
That will even allow you to edit the same documents on both computers (not possible if you use RDF export, even if it works). Just make sure you have the same Zotero version on both computers.
  • I know what was wrong, I unticked the boxes "Export Files". So all it was saving was the metadata for the Zotero file.
    Thanks anyway :)
