Since last week I cannot add references in Word. It is as if the communication fails between Word (updated) and Zotero (checked)... Please help... a lot of manuscripts to do
Thanks. No solution works... I use office 365 (reinstalled 2 hours ago). Still stuck... and cannot find zotero.dotm in the ad hoc C:/user.... May be Word Office 365 does not place zotero.dotm in the conventional folder... Meanwhile I cannot use Zotero anymore. OS: windows 10 [Surface pro].
Hello, please find the report error number 1536405969. The folder is C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP\Zotero.dotm ... this address, available in Word (Compléments), is where I am supposed to remove Zotero.dotm before reinstalling (Zotero suggestion)... but I don't find any AppData folder. I am not a specialist in computer science, but there is "a priori" no hidden folder. My Windows version is Windows 10 pro (21H2) and my laptop is a Surface Microsoft (64 bits). Thanks to help.
Hi, I am not able to paste in the path ..., as I wrote I am a user not a programmer. Yesterday, I retried again and again, and I understood The connection (Zotero-Word) works but very very very very slowly (about 5 min before I was able to add a reference), the week before, for the same action it was fraction of seconds. It seems to me that the link between word and Zotero is very very very very low, and sometimes endless, without any error message. Still need your help, I cannot imagine I am alone with this problem. Thanks by advance.
For a performance problem we'd want to see a Debug ID for a specific operation that's slow, as well as a description of exactly what you're doing.
Make sure you've tried restarting your computer and that you're not running anything else in the background that might be interfering.
If this is a very large document, you'll want to make sure that "Automatically update citations" is disabled in the plugin's Document Preferences window.
Hi, finally I found the problem, and the solution. My Zotero base and documents were on a external (however high speed) disk, and it worked very well until last week. I suppose that a reached a very large size of data base of references (>10Gb), and then the flow rate of work between Word and Zotero dropped dramatically. Thus I moved the base and documents on the C:\ drive and now it works again very well. May be you should consider to inform users of this limitation, and details should be welcome (e.g. maximum size of data base if you use external drive...). By the way, that should be great to explain a bit more the difference between the basic directory of joined pieces versus the directory of data, which is not completely evident (examples should be great). Regards
