would like to figure out how to use "find available pdf" to pull pdfs from JSTOR but i don't know where to start or if that's even a thing? I think this whole concept still has me confused as much as i'm trying to read about it, so would love any help!

Zotero automatically downloads PDFs from JSTOR and other sites when you have access to the PDF. You don't need Find Available PDF for that.

Find Available PDF finds open-access PDFs, and it can retrieve PDFs you have access to via a direct or VPN-based connection after the fact if you didn't have access when you first saved the item (or, e.g., if you imported some items without files via RIS/BibTeX/etc.). If you use a web-based proxy to access PDFs, it can only find open-access PDFs.
