I can't save any PDF from any website

I am on a mac running latest software using Zotero (6.0.4) on Firefox (99.0.1).

I can't save any pdf to zotero. All that happens is that I get a red cross.

I've tried uninstalling, zotero, removed the add-on, etc. etc.

What else can I do?

e.g. website that doesn't work though none actually do so:

What about a page that doesn't require a subscription?

    https://arxiv.org/abs/2004.13001

Can you provide a Debug ID from Zotero for a save attempt that fails to download a PDF?
  • Doesn't work on any PDF. Tried the arxiv one too.

    This is my Debug ID:
    D1978951871

    Thanks!

  • I'd guess that you're trying to save to a library with file editing disabled, so saving files won't work. You can enable file editing from the group settings.

Also note that that you shouldn't be trying to save PDFs directly when there's an article page. E.g., in the arXiv example, you should save from the link I gave above, not click through to the PDF first. In Firefox we're also limited in what we can show when you're viewing a PDF directly, so whereas on the article page you'd still get the save popup with a selector to choose the target library/collection, for a PDF you just get the red X if the file can't be saved.
  • Did the trick, cheers!
