missing references in my library

I have not been using my zotero for a while and have relocated. Upon reusing I find that a lot of the references I have stored have gone missing. Is there a general problem with the zotero filing system? I have had this a few times over the years but don't remember how to do update anymore.

If you're saying this is a different computer, this likely just means you hadn't fully synced on the computer where you were last using Zotero, either because you disabled syncing or because you were getting a sync error (indicated by an error icon to the left of the sync button in the toolbar).
