Citing Authors With the Same Surname

Hello all!

Whenever I have two authors with the same surname in my library, their first name initial appears in my in-text citations in Word. I use APA 7 and I know this is not the norm. Any idea how to change that in my Zotero settings ?
(I use the zotero style called APA - Université de Montréal, which is the French version of APA 7).

Thanks!
  • This absolutely is correct APA style. I wouldn't recommend changing it
  • Right, I went back and read, this is totally right!

However, Zotero does it automatically when I have two authors with the same surname in my whole library, even if I don't cite both in the text.

For example, I have G. Cook and V. Cook in my library, and I'm only using V. Cook in my thesis, but it stills put the initial in the in-text citation.

Any idea how to change that?
  • Have you looked at your bibliography? The style should only do this based on first authors of items cited in a particular document -- it's not even aware of what other items are in your Zotero library
