Lost content in Tag Selector

I was adding a colored tag with emoji, and the content of tag selector suddenly became blank.

see the snapshot: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SVcJUiI49qsy3UrsM7cZxX2ekkuTVKJp/view?usp=sharing

The issue is that, the upper bar with dot to control the hight of the tag selector works, but the content shows nothing.

I have tried to re-install Zotero, but the issue keeps happening, and I found it is related to my sqlite files. I made the back-up for the sqlite files in the Zotero root folder, and if I do not copy them in the folder after the re-installation, the tag selector works well. But after I copy and paste those sqlite files to the root folder, the selector becomes empty.

I am using Zotero 6.0.4 on MacBook Pro 2021 MacOS 12.3

Thank you!

Can you provide a Debug ID for Zotero startup, using the "Restart with Logging Enabled…" option?
  • Thank you for your instant reply!

    The debug ID is D1638031654.
  • I found the trouble-maker emoji with assigned number 1 cannot be applied to items, but for the others, like pressing 2/3 the assigned colored tag can be applied.

Does this still happen if you disable all your third-party plugins?
  • dstillman Zotero Team
Also, can you say what the emoji was?
  • Yes, this happens with all plugins disabled, the emoji is 讀 , it is an emoji I searched in macOS input method, but I cannot find it in website like: https://emojipedia.org

To make it more clear, please see the screenshot: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rP4H6q6k5NSW-rKAqgzDQDGWMhysAqcY/view?usp=sharing
  • As it is a tag with assigned color, even if there is no item in the library with this tag, this tag would still be kept in tag selector.

I guess it could be fixed by deleting this emoji tag, but I don't know how to do this.
  • I have fixed this issue as I found in the web library, this emoji tag can be shown and deleted.

For those who share the same issue.

We've fixed this in the latest Zotero beta, and the fix will be included in 6.0.5. Thanks for reporting.

Basically, there are multiple ways of representing a string in Unicode, and this could happen when using a character that could be represented in multiple ways (here, in either the CJK_UNIFIED_IDEOGRAPHS block or the CJK_COMPATIBILITY_IDEOGRAPHS block).
  • Thank you for the effort of you all to eliminate this problem forever~
