Upgrade StorageXclip cannot access Zotero PDF selected text

I bind a shell function to a key combination and use xclip to quickly google search any selected text.
In Zotero 6.0.4 on Pop OS 21.10 any selected text in the new PDF reader is not read by by xclip (version 0.13).
Other selected text in different parts of Zotero is correctly read by xclip. For example the info pane of a paper in the library.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Start Zotero.
2. Open any PDF in the library with Zotero's new PDF reader.
3. Select any text in the PDF.
4. Open terminal.
5. Enter the command "xclip -o"
Expected outcome:
Selected text in PDF opened by Zotero's PDF reader printed to the terminal.
Actual outcome:
Previously selected text from a different window or nothing.
Can anyone help me out?

Xclip (https://linux.die.net/man/1/xclip) is not able to copy the selected text to the clipboard.
However, Ctrl+C works, but that won't let me use directly the copied content.
