Batch changes to item type

I have just completed pulling in a set of about 165 articles from the Proquest Historical Newspaper database into my library. Unfortunately, I imported these articles by selecting the option to "Export directly to ProCite, EndNote or Reference Manager." which imported all of the references as websites rather than newspaper articles. Is there any way to make a batch change to the item type from website to newspaper?

I found the relevant ticket, https://www.zotero.org/trac/ticket/364 and forum discussion, http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/480/batch-edits/ but I was still curious if anyone had any suggestions.

    no, I don't have a good idea - also, I'd assume quite a bit of information was lost in the import (websites e.g. don't have an issue or a section field).
    At some point there was probably a .RIS file involved - you could check if that's still somewhere on your computer (e.g. the download folder or so). If so, that is easier to batch edit - simply with a text editor.
